It’s spooky movie season so it’s only fitting for scary movies to dominate the convo….
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be a popular Halloween costume choice for both young and old, but not exactly the Beetlejuice character himself. Shrunken Head Bob tops the list of the most searched Halloween costumes of 2024, according to Google Trends.
Terrifier 3 topped the weekend box office with a debut of $18.3million but look out because on Friday, the next installment of the Smile franchise will hit movie theaters. I watched the first Smile and thought it was actually pretty good. I do love scary movies and this one delivered. It starred Kevin Bacon’s daughter Sosie Bacon and she was great! The first movie had enough closure to not anger me (because I hate when movies just end and you’re like- “WHAT!??!?! CREDITS?!?! Where’s the rest of it?!?!?”). But it definitely left it open ended enough for a sequel.
My hope with any sequel is that it lives up to the first. Just because you can make a sequel doesn’t always mean you should. I see Kyle Gallner returning as the Joel character but I don’t see Sosie Bacon back. Hmm.
You will recognize another familiar face with scream queen status in Smile 2: Drew Barrymore (playing herself). Drew had the iconic “What’s your favorite scary movie?” telephone scene from Scream. She also played in Stephen King’s Firestarter (1984) and Cat’s Eye (1985).

Movie Review: Roofman
I’m going to start out by saying that I love Channing Tatum, so I’m completely biased. COMPLETELY. That being said, aside from my admiration, he is a really good actor. And don’t scoff at that…. he is! He has range. He can ham it up in slapstick comedy movies like 21 Jump Street (2012), dance […]
