These days, AI is everywhere. Artificial intelligence technology is used in so many different areas of our daily lives, sometimes we don’t even know it’s being utilized. The most basic form is your virtual assistant on your phone, like Siri and Alexa. Those can be super helpful and convenient. There’s also artificial intelligence system systems in e-commerce, fraud detection, customer service, and self driving cars. Don’t forget image and facial recognition. Also AI is used for medical diagnosis and healthcare. It has also found its way into the world of radio and television broadcasting.
The rapid advancement of the use of AI has been astonishing. Some fear it will have serious consequences. People have already lost jobs because of it. There was a story published today regarding a man who landed an interview for his dream job, only to discover that the “person” interviewing him was nothing more than an AI bot. That bot kept glitching, and didn’t allow him to answer many of the interview questions. To add insult to injury, after the interview, he received a follow-up e-mail stating he had “wonderful energy,” but he wasn’t the right fit for the job. So, in this instance, AI prevented him from getting the job rather than causing him to lose that job later. Isn’t it all a bit too much, too fast?
